Let us always bear in mind that we no longer live for our own self but that we live for Christ, when we pass the water of regeneration which is baptism, we became dead to sin and alive in Christ, as the Scripture says, Christ is the one who reigns in us and not our will, Christ became the centre of our life, and became our life himself, he became the reason for existence, and the primary ground of our faith, since then we became dead to sin we no longer entertain the things that are of sin, and of the world since he who is “a friend of the world is an enemy of Christ”, but this doesn’t mean that the world is evil, what Saint John mean is that a person who puts more importance on the world than on Christ lives not for Christ but for him self, this is the same with money, money is not evil but the love of money is the root of evil, and by loving money you no longer put Christ in the centre of your hearts which is proper, instead you put money which is not proper and not good in it self. He who profess himself as follower of Christ must set his mind on Christ and concern himself with things that are for Christ, he must depart from things or works that are not in the light, since all things that are not in the light comes from the evil one, as Saint Paul warned us that all things should be put to light so that we may know where it comes from, he must flee from sins and proximity of committing sins, he must control himself, his passion and lust so that he may not give in to evil concupiscence, but in all this things he must put in mind that it is only with the assistance of our Lord that he can resist all this things, he must put on the robe of innocence, the sword of truth which is God’s word, and the shield of faith. We don’t pretend to be holy, since we are not, but we strive to become holy since our Lord said “be holy just as your Father in Heaven is Holy” the best way to fight temptation is to pray at all times, to flee from sin, for it is much better to become coward in regards to sin, than to face it and later lose, when sin present to you immediately flee from it, don’t ever put yourself in such a situation where in you may meet sin, as Saint Therese of Calcutta once said, “don’t play with fire for you may get burn”.
Control your self in everything, be moderate in everything not too much nor too less but rather moderation, control not only your passion but also your lips, for even though the mouth is a small part of the body but it drag you to eternal damnation given that “you are accountable with every word that comes from your mouth” the mouth speaks what the hearth contents, forgive one another as our Lord had forgiven us, and in everything give thanks to God.
